Spirit Award shares "Mountain" from upcoming 7" single Currency

It's new music to love!

We’re brimming with excitement to share that Seattle indie-psych trio Spirit Award have released a new single “Mountain,” now available to stream everywhere. “Mountain” is the A side of the band’s upcoming 7” vinyl Currency - out this May. We're proud to say that the release comes in partnership with us, Share It Music, and that Spirit Award have chosen to share a portion of proceeds from Currency with Mary’s Place a fellow Seattle-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to "provide safe, inclusive shelter and services for women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness." To that end, Currency's two tracks revolve around the ideas of affordability, greed, and the wealth gap. Spirit Award are coming off their recently released album Muted Crowd, which drew high critical praise.

"Share It's vision of what they want to do for bands, people, and giving back to the community was very exciting and inspiring,” explains vocalist Daniel Lyon. “We are thrilled to be putting this out on a nonprofit label, and giving 25% of proceeds to Mary's Place. We named the release Currency because the two songs center around greed, the struggle to have affordable housing, and the large wealth gap that we see/feel personally in Seattle, but also in cities throughout the country and beyond. As artists working in a city with prices ceaselessly increasing, we are often forced to work many hours at multiple jobs in order to maintain the ability to afford to live, making it ever harder to find time and support as artists. This art is the 'currency' that matters most to us, and we want to find ways to use it to bring positivity to people’s lives.”

In addition to releasing new music, after a stint at Treefort Music Fest, Spirit Award will head out for a stretch of European and Moroccan tour dates in April - all of which can be found here.

Please join us in welcoming Spirit Award to the Share It Music family!
